Stargazing in the Elan Valley is mind-blowing on clear nights – you'll see more stars than you knew existed. The local pub is under 500 metres away (though check their odd opening times) and serves food worth booking ahead for.

Inside you'll find four bedrooms sleeping seven people total – one king-size with en-suite, another king-size, a twin with bunk beds and a single. The kitchen/diner has flagstone flooring and seats eight, perfect for those meals that turn into wine-fuelled debates about what to do tomorrow. Three bathrooms mean no morning queues even with a full house.

Visit the monument of Wales' last princess nearby, explore Brecon Beacons National Park (30 minutes drive), try fishing on-site, or just relax in the garden watching sheep do sheep things. Builth Wells offers shops, restaurants and EV charging if needed.

After a day exploring, nothing beats sinking into the hot tub with a drink while your partner pretends they're not checking work emails. Tycanol delivers everything you need without the pretentious faff.

Tycanol Reviews

Mark
Really enjoyed the cosy feel and perfect spot, definitely coming back sometime soon!
Emma
We stayed at this cottage for three nights with a group of six adults and our dog. The place has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a separate toilet, which worked really well for us. The ground-source heat pump kept the house warm and was super quiet - no complaints there! The location is perfect; tucked away on a peaceful farm far from any traffic, so nights were incredibly quiet. Nearby, we took a stroll to see the monument of the last Princess of Wales, which added a bit of history to our trip. The real star, though, was the hot tub out back. We even braved the rain to enjoy it - so relaxing! Everything inside was spotless and worked perfectly. Just a heads up - there’s no EV charger at the cottage, so we had to use the station in Builth Wells. The owners, who live nearby, were really friendly and helpful, which made our stay all the better. We’d definitely come back!
Sarah
We had a really nice time here! The place felt warm and welcoming for everyone, including the dogs. There’s plenty to do if you have a carand the surrounding walks are lovely. The pub nearby is great, but you’ll want to book early since it gets busy. Definitely recommend!

Emma
We had a fantastic stay at the cottage! From the moment we walked in, it felt warm and inviting, which stayed consistent throughout our visit. The living room, kitchenand bedrooms are really spacious - perfect for our group of seven. Having three toilets was a lifesaver! Small touches like milk, towels, a welcoming basket with Welsh cakes and a bottle of wine made us feel extra cared for. The place was spotless and smelled freshand the views of the sheep grazing outside are just lovely. The hot tub was a real highlightand we appreciated that it was cleaned daily by the owner. They were really helpful with all our questions and super friendly. All in all, we’d definitely recommend this place and hope to come back soon!
